Wild Whisper - Back to School Bookmarks

Send your kids "Back to School" with bookmarks made especially for them!

First... who said bookmarks have to be small???? I used my Pinkfresh slim dies to make these bookmarks, and let me tell you, the kids aren't going to lose these ones! The largest one is 4.25" x 9"!

I made this first bookmark for my granddaughter who is devoted to her cat Ginger. The paper collection and ephemera pack used for this is the ever-so-cute Happy Tails.

To make the tassel, I followed this tutorial. I also followed the You Tube video below to tie the tassel together tightly without any ends showing.

Here are the layers of the tag. (Note: I changed out the white heart paper for the dark hearts, as I felt they looked better when I went to put the bookmark together.) Heart paper is 4" x 9 1/8". Orange kitten face paper is 3-5/8" x 8-5/8", as is the blue kitten paper.

This tag was made for my grandson who is going into grade six. It suits him because learning is an adventure and he loves to learn!

I cut the striped part of the bookmark with this PinkFresh die.  I love the effect it gives.

I didn't think to do this on Emily's bookmark, but for Austin's, I cut a piece of acetate packaging and glued it in between the last layers. This is to hold the ribbon a little more securely and keep it from pulling out. On the first bookmark, it would help keep the tassel from tearing out of the hole.

I think my grandkids are going to love these. Hope you did as well!

Be sure and check out the Wild Whisper store this week. There's so many great things to treat yourself with! Put my code DTLINDA in the coupon box and you'll get a 10% discount!

Wild Whisper - Smile at People

 Hi everyone!

I'm up on the Wild Whisper Blog with a special layout that I did of my daughter and my youngest grandson!  Scrapbooking really brings back the memories!!

For this layout, I used two Wild Whisper paper collections:  "Sassy Since Birth" and Nicole Wright's "Fanciful Florals".

The photo below shows the first layer of my layout.  I always "eyeball" my pieces when I'm gluing them down, and as you can see, this time I was a little off and my mat is on the page crooked.  To fix that, I decided to tilt my photo when I added it to the page and that draws your eye away from my original error.

If you haven't seen the "Sassy Since Birth" collection, there is a hilarious sheet of snarky sayings included.  Of course it was on the backside of the bottom piece of paper in my layout, so in order to save some of the words to use as title pieces, I cut out the center of the bottom page.  Below, you can see the back side of my layout, with this piece cut out.

To frame the photo, I fussy cut some flowers from another piece (shown below) of the "Fanciful Florals" collection, and added them around the photo frame which was popped up on foam tape.

Below is a close up showing you the fussy cut flowers.

In order to keep the sketchy look of Nicole's flowers that I love, I chose to only partially colour them.  I also used light colours (except for the pink) to give them an airy feel.

I wanted to fill in the white spaces with some texture, and since I couldn't find Nichole's stencil in my stash (story of my life), I decided to mimic her round flowers with a very pale shade of blue. I drew them freehand with Copic B00. You can see them better in the picture below. For a little sparkle, I added "Talk Foodie to Me" sequins.

Copic markers that I used on this layout:

Large flowers: RV19, RV34, RV55

Leaves: G09, YG45

Blues: B000, B00

Yellow: Y13

That's it for me today! Treat yourself and go shopping in the Wild Whisper Store! Add my discount code (DTLINDA) in the coupon code box to receive an extra discount.

Happy creating!
