August Swirly Girls Challenge!

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share a layout I did for the SGC monthly challenge at Swirlydoos.  Maggi had some specific rules for us:  It had to be a layout of a place we had visited - no people allowed!  It also had to incorporate cardboard and a title.  Would you believe it .... the title was what took me the longest!  :)

I chose a photo of a fountain in Sausalito from our holiday this spring.  I really loved not only the fountain, but the Seagull on it as well!  I thought it looked so pretty against the blue sky.  Because I caught all the water droplets in my photo, I chose to go with lots of sparkle on this layout.

The cardboard piece is tucked behind my title.  It has been die cut with a doily edge die, gessoed, and painted with an aqua colour of smooch paint.

The metal daisy at the top of the layout was my score of the day.  My daughter was cleaning out her jewelry box and gave me all kinds of goodies that I was doing a happy dance over!  :)

To increase the sparkle on this page, I edged it with Glitter Snow texture paste, and also stenciled it on here and there.

Here's a close up of the sparkle!

Today marks the end of this month's challenge.  My friend, Barbara, is hosting the September challenge and I know it will be a good one!  Can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve for us!

Thanks for stopping by!

September Hearts of the West Blog Hop

Welcome to the September Hearts of the West team blog hop!  If this is your first time joining us, I know you are going to love it.
This hop features Close to my Heart consultants from all over Canada and is founded by Nancy Klein.

If you came from Chantal's blog then you're in the right place!

This is a circular blog hop so you can start anywhere! Just in case you should get lost - the full list will be at the bottom of this post.

SO, as always ... grab your coffee, tea, or water ... relax ... and hop around with us!

This month we have decided to feature the paper pack Pathfinding.  Pathfinding has such beautiful coordinating chipboard elements, that I decided I wanted to make a wall hanging with them using our Pennant Frame.  All the chipboard was inked with Barn Red ink.

To cut the front paper for the frame you use the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge.

To make the flowers, I used a retired stamp set "Friendship Bouquet", and coloured them with the also retired, CTMH markers in Barn Red, Goldrush, Autumn Terracotta, and Sweet Leaf.  Then I added sparkles in a brown and tan assortment to the centers.

I was able to achieve a lot of depth to the flowers by stamping them each 3 times and popping up each layer with thin foam tape.  When I reached the top layer, I also cut between the individual petals so that I could fluff them up a bit.

The top and middle layers were then shaped as shown below.

Here's a view that shows you how full the flowers are.

The frame was finished off by adding bows made from our beautiful new Black Striped Twill Ribbon and tucking in a few pieces here and there from the Pathfinding Assortment set!.

Thank you for joining us on the hop today!

Happy Birthday Anne!

Hi everyone!

Just thought I'd pop by with a quick little card and gift I made for my friend Anne.  I used left over paper to wrap her gift with and liked the combo so much, I thought it was a tip worth sharing.

Here's the card.  Because Anne loves to sew, as well as scrapbook, I used the Ladies' Diary paper line from Graphic 45.

Gift package.  Anne also loves to scrapbook, so I used repositionable tape to wrap her gift so she can re-use the paper.

The two wrapped together.

Anne and I celebrate our birthdays fairly close together, but we both had busy summers, so yesterday was the first chance we had to enjoy a "belated" lunch together.
It was wonderful to get caught up again.
Great friends are GREAT treasures!

August Hearts of the West Blog Hop

Welcome to the August Hearts of the West team blog hop! If this is your first time joining us, I know you are going to love it.
This hop features Close to my Heart consultants from all over Canada and is founded by Nancy Klein.
This month's color challenge comes from Design Seeds, and has been hand picked by Nancy.

A couple of fun facts about August: It is National Picnic Month and the flowers that represent it are the beautiful gladiolus and the poppy!  So I hope you take time to treat yourself to a picnic this month and enjoy all the glads and poppies that will be blooming!

If you came from Holly's blog then you're in the right place!  This is a circular blog hop so you can start anywhere! Just in case you should get lost - the full list will be at the bottom of this post. SO, as always ... grab your coffee, tea, or water ... relax ... and hop around with us!

Our new Annual Inspirations Idea Book is live today, and we are very excited to introduce it to you.  If you don't have a paper copy yet, you can see it online through your local consultant's online business account.  Mine can be seen here.

My project has been made with the new paper packet - Seaside - a beautiful set of soft colours... just perfect for a New Baby card!

I made this card with a couple of SVG files I purchased from SVG Cuts and then combined together.  I wish I could share it with you, but they are copyrighted.  You can purchase them here and here though.  I re-sized the star fish, etc to fit on the box card, and then cut them all out with my Cricut Explore.

The cute little turtle surfer was an image file purchased from Stinkin Cute Cuttables.  The star fish were made out of paper scraps from the ever-so-popular (now retired) Babycakes line, and the sand dollar from Skylark (also retired now).  I glued all the images onto white card stock and cut a border around them, to give them a "softer" look that I thought was appropriate for a baby card.  Decorative embellishments that I used will be listed below.

The Box Card file from SVG Cuts, also included a quick and easy envelope that was plenty big enough to tuck my finished card into.

I loved this sweet little card when it was done, and I hope you do too!
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
