Wild Whisper - Upcycling is Fun

Hi everyone,

I've got a new project up on Wild Whisper's blog.

I upcycled a box to store my colouring pages from my monthly classes at Kit and Clowder.  Here's a sneak peak of the front.  There's more pics and details here.

A glimpse of the inside as well.

If you're looking for something to do during this time of  social distancing... I highly recommend Alyce's classes and her facebook group.  She is one of the most up-lifting and talented people I have met online!

Stay healthy and happy by creating!

Happy Birthday!

Hi everyone,

Today I'm sharing a sweet little "10th" birthday card I made for my granddaughter.

I take monthly colouring classes at Kit and Clowder, and Alyce has some amazing sponsors who quite often give members on her facebook page, freebies.  The image and paper used on this card were both freebies.

I have several digital papers, kindly donated by Tracy Wray from Whimsy Stamps, and I chose a couple of them that went together.  (The kitten paper was special for Kit and Clowder's 15,000 FB fans Celebration and is SO cute.)

The "Marci" image was donated by LaLaLand and Alyce gave us a free class on how to colour her in honour of her 15,000 Celebration.  You can find the class here on Youtube.  Her classes are great fun and I'm learning SO many details that are making my colouring better!

Don't you just love the kitten peeking out at the bottom!  Tracy created the kitten paper special for Alyce at Kit and Clowder, because of her deep love for cats.  This particular cat stole MY heart because it looks just like my granddaughter's cat, Jimmy.

After colouring Marci, I fussy cut her and layered her on the card with fun die cuts and flowers.  I will list them at the end of the post.

The inside of the card uses a special stamp set from CTMH that is only available this month.  You can see more details about it here.

I also thought I'd share a quick easy way I made an envelope to put this card into.  I recycled a piece of acrylic packaging by cutting off the top excess portion.

Added a pretty die cut bow... and Voila!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Happy Colouring!

Linda

GIU Girl - Day 4

Hello!  Hello!

Today's card is focusing on one beautiful flower from the October, 2015 Kit of the Month - Beauty Comes From Being Yourself.

I chose to colour the flower with my Copic markers.  Once I chose my background paper, then I took a piece of scrap paper and tried out different colours to see what looked nice with the patterned paper, and used my favorites.

I love to colour with my Copic markers, but I am far from being an expert at it.  I take monthly online colouring classes from one of the nicest and most talented colourists out there ...Alyce Keegan at Kit and Clowder.  Every month I learn something new and get a little bit better.  I can't recommend Alyce enough if you are wanting to learn more about colouring... and we all know Unity has MANY stamps that are perfect for sitting down for a quiet afternoon and enjoying this peaceful style of art.

Alyce even has a free class called "Mindful Me" where she explains the importance of Art Therapy and gives helpful suggestions on how to incorporate time for crafting in our busy lives.  You can see more information about it here.

On this card, I used a couple of dies from Tutti Designs.  The background lacy piece that I used on the front is called "Rose Frame", and inside I used one called "Rose Duo Frame".  You can get them at Frantic Stamper or at DiesRUs where they quite often go on sale.

The inside sentiment "Hello Friend" came from the May 2017 Kit of the Month - Free Your Dreams.

When I was making this card, I made the base from Core'dinations 110lb Smooth Cardstock which gives you a nice sturdy card that stands up without sagging.  This was a tip I got from my cardmaking whiz friend, Allison Cope (Your Memories with Ally) and it has made such a difference in my cards. Click the link to see some of the cards Ally makes... they are really incredible!

The other thing I did, to give it a little oomph... is I die-cut the rose, as well as a piece of foam, with the same round scalloped die (Spellbinders) and glued them together.  This gives some nice, sturdy dimension to the rose and makes it a real focal point on the card.

Thank you once again for stopping by!  I appreciate so much, all the lovely comments that have been left this week!

Now don't forget.... to leave another comment below... because there is a prize of 25 Unity stamps that will be going home with two of  you at the end of the week!  All you have to do, to be entered to win, is comment on EACH of my GIU blog posts this week!

And for even MORE chances to win, comment on Monica's GIU posts as well!

Good luck!

Camellia Card

Hi everyone,

I took a coloring class at Kit and Clowder this month, and having learned how to colour a "Power Poppy" Camellia, I then made a card with one.

In our class Alyce taught us to colour a red, pink and white camellia.  Since the challenge at Power Poppy this month, is to use greens, I made my camellias for my card all white and mounted them on green BoBunny paper from the "Soiree" collection.

This is my image that Alyce taught us to colour in the online Monthly Colouring Class for February.  She has a class for both markers and pencils.  I was pretty pleased with my image!  I'm not sure which colour I liked the best... they were all pretty.  *hint *hint... She is still taking sign ups for this class until March 14th!

Power Poppy has both digital and clear stamps available for sale.  This image, that we used, was a digital one.  So for the class I sized it to 7 inches, but for my card I resized it to a smaller size.  Because it is a digital file and Marcella also has it in a light tone to do 'No Line" colouring, I printed off an extra copy for the inside of the card and stamped Happy Birthday over top of it with an older  CTMH stamp  B1419 "Joyful Birthday".

For the month of February the digital stamps are on sale for 25% off.  Marcella just released a new one today and it is a beauty!  (I might just have to go back AGAIN!)  LOL

I'm also entering this card into the Swirlydoos March card challenge.  Bec challenged us to use a die on our cards.  The die I used is  from the Spellbinders' set:  Nestabilities "Decorative Elements Oval Majesty".

This card challenge is open to everyone.  Just register here to log into the forums and get started!  They're a great group over there!

One more tip about the digital images... I find Copics colour just fine with Epson InkJet ink.  I print them off and colour away without any bleeding.  The paper that I use is CTMH's White Daisy cardstock and it provides an excellent blending surface for me.

So that's what I've been up to on a cold and snowy day!  Thanks for stopping by to peek in!
